I guess it's when you least expect something then will your disappointment be minimised. The higher your expectations, the greater the disappiontment. (doesn't apply to all cases I suppose)
Sometimes you have such high expectations cos you know you'll do well... on the other hand.. it can just be wanting something, which you know you'll never get. Come to think of it, that's actually wishful thinking.
